Doctors & Staff

Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Lakeshore Vision Center the leading provider of vision care products and services in Algoma and Kewaunee.

Dr. John Gorz has called Algoma his hometown his entire life.

After graduating from Algoma High School, he got his college degree in biology at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh.

From there he attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago where he earned his doctorate in optometry.

Especially rewarding was being able to join his father, Dr. Arthur Gorz, in practice in Algoma. Soon after, the practice expanded by adding a location in Kewaunee.

Dr. John’s additonal talents have made him an active participant in remodeling projects at the office where he has even built his own frame boards among other things.

Otherwise he keeps busy following his children’s activities and beekeeping (a hobby he picked up from his father)

Dr. Susan Gorz was born and raised in Peoria, IL. She and her four older brothers all graduated from Peoria Central High School.

From there she received a degree in biology from Purdue University and graduated cum laude from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago.

Dr. Sue joined Dr. John in Wisconsin after they were married in Nov., 1984.

She and John have three children; Michael, Margaret, and Andrew. Free time is spent following their activities. Dr. Sue also dabbles in gardening, and relaxes by walking the dog.
